Our Stance — In One Sentence
Before GenZ has zero tolerance for any content that sexualises, exploits, endangers, or grooms children — and we have built the platform, the moderation, and the partnerships needed to act on that stance every day.
What we prohibit
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — images, video, audio, text or any other form. Removed immediately, accounts permanently banned, and reported to the relevant authorities (e.g. NCMEC in the US, equivalent local agencies elsewhere).
- Grooming, sexual solicitation, or attempts to move a minor to another platform for harmful contact
- Sexualised commentary on or about minors
- Content that normalises violence, neglect or exploitation of children
- Sharing personal information that could identify or locate a minor
How we enforce
We combine three layers of protection:
- Automated detection. Hash matching against known CSAM databases, plus audio and metadata signals flagged for human review.
- Human review. Trained safety reviewers operate around the clock to evaluate flagged content and escalate where needed.
- Community reporting. One‑tap report from any story or reply. Reports about child safety are prioritised above all other categories.
Age restrictions
- Before GenZ is intended for users 13 and older
- Users aged 13–17 require permission from a parent or guardian and may have access limited to age‑appropriate content
- We do not knowingly allow accounts for children under 13. If we discover one, we close it and delete the data
- Adults who repeatedly seek out or interact inappropriately with content from minors will be permanently removed
Parental controls & resources
If you are a parent or guardian and you suspect inappropriate contact with your child on our platform, please:
- Take a screenshot or recording of the content
- Report it in‑app using the "Report" option on the story or reply
- Email childsafety@beforegenz.com with the username and timestamp
- If there is immediate danger, contact local law enforcement
We aim to acknowledge child safety reports within 24 hours and resolve them within 72 hours, with most acute cases handled within hours.
Reporting to authorities
Where we identify CSAM or content that suggests imminent harm to a child, we preserve evidence and report to the appropriate national authority (e.g. the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, or equivalent body in the relevant jurisdiction) as required by law.
Partners & frameworks we follow
- We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
- We comply with the EU's GDPR-K provisions for minors
- We follow the WePROTECT Global Alliance Model National Response
- We participate in industry hash‑sharing programs to detect known CSAM at upload
If you are a young person reading this
You deserve to be safe — online and offline. If anything on Before GenZ has made you feel uncomfortable, or if someone has contacted you inappropriately, please tell a trusted adult and report it in‑app. You did nothing wrong.
You can also reach out anonymously to a local helpline. In the US: CyberTipline. Elsewhere, your country's child protection helpline can help.
